Matariki Celebrations
Matariki Celebrations - Parkland Kindergarten

To celebrate Matariki we had a family day.  Our tamariki peeled and chopped vegetables, cooked soup and baked a delicious cake to share with their whānau.  We then shared our kai, toasted marshmallows on the fire and practiced weaving flowers. What a special time we had sharing stories and spending time together.

Kapa Haka

Kapa Haka has been a strong focus for our tamariki for the past few terms.  As part of extending our tamariki interest and to develop and strengthen relationships with Kaiako and tamariki at Te Arawaru bilingual unit at Central Normal School we were invited to participate in one of their Friday kapa haka practices.

Matariki Celebrations - Milson Kindergarten

Milson Kindergarten have celebrated Matariki this term with a Movie Stars themed disco and shared kai.  A fun night was had with some yummy hot soups made by our parent helpers to keep the families warmed up as they came in from the cold.

The children celebrated Matariki with a performance for their whānau.  Our tangata whenua were acknowledged through wearing korowai and all children proudly wore piupiu and lovely handmade tipare.  After the performance, the evening was finished off with shared kai and korero with our friends.

At Linton kindergarten we had a wonderful day – celebrating Matariki toasting marshmallows over our campfire, singing Matariki Waiata in a concert for our whānau and finishing with a shared kai of homemade AND homegrown kumara and pumpkin soup, bread and chocolate cake.

Matariki was celebrated this year with a shared kai and disco. A big thank you to all the West End Kindergarten whānau who made this night a success. We had such a beautiful night with clear skies. We started the night with karakia kai and then had a wonderful shared kai.

Foxton kapa haka talents shine - Foxton Kindergarten

The considerable kapa haka skills of Foxton Kindergarten children were on display this term when they participated in the annual Te Awahou Kapa Haka Festival. Weeks of practising waiata and developing performance and singing abilities were proudly shown off at the festival in October, where the children performed six songs.
