Ruahine Kindergartens

Fees - 30 Free Hours ECE

The Government offers children aged 3 and over 20 hours free ECE until they start school - at RKA we offer up to 30 free hours.

Under the Ministry of Education’s policy, children can attend an early childhood education (ECE) service for up to 20 hours per week, at no charge. When you enrol your child in education and care, you decide where to use (attest) this funding.  You might opt to use all or some at Kindergarten; or split between other services such as home-based or day-care.

The Government directly funds Ruahine Kindergarten Association on a per-child, per-hour basis.  This goes towards salaries and covers a portion of our running costs but does not cover the cost of employing 100% qualified and registered teachers, so sometimes we have to charge fees.

Ruahine Kindergartens - Fees

For all families that attest their full entitlement of 20 hours ECE subsidy to a single Ruahine Kindergarten Association (RKA) service, we offer a fee exemption of up to a maximum of 10 hours at no charge per week, giving up to a total of 30 hours at no charge.  Where a child is enrolled at more than one RKA service, the fee exemption for enrolled hours in excess of 20 hours ECE subsidy - up to a total of 10 hours can be applied to one service only.  Where a child does not attest their full 20 hours ECE subsidy to a single RKA service and therefore does not qualify for the fee exemption, fees will be charged at an hourly rate.

Children under 3 years of age are not eligible for the 20 hours ECE subsidy and therefore an hourly rate applies.  Some of our kindergartens have optional charges which will be discussed with you on enrolment.

A fee schedule outlining charges is available at each service.
