Tucked between a church and Manchester Street School in Feilding, Manchester Kindergarten is a fun-filled and well-resourced learning environment for active young discoverers.
Since 2009, Head Teacher Robyn Vine-Adie has led a team of dedicated teachers to support and encourage children to become capable life-long learners.
As part of our professional development, we challenged ourselves to increase our interaction with Māori perspectives of learning - a beautiful example of this is the Māori Whakataukī:
Whāia te iti kahurangi ki te tūohu koe me he maunga teitei, which means:
Seek the treasure you value most dearly: if you bow your head, let it be to a lofty mountain.
“Little things such as learning to cut with scissors can be a big thing for children. We do our best to support them, with learning strategies they can use to overcome obstacles when learning gets hard.”
From developmental skills to transitioning to school, Manchester Kindergarten’s bi-cultural disposition creates a positive and nurturing learning environment for children, teachers and families alike.
